Blue water ripple blanket

I am almost finished with a new ripple blanket!

I chose blue tones because my aunt is painting one of the rooms in her house a very light blue color.Β  Once the painting is finished, this blanket will look great on the bed or just thrown over a chair.

Thanks to Lucy over at Attic 24 for making an easy to understand pattern and a great tutorial πŸ™‚Β  Here is the Neat Ripple Pattern

Hats, hats and more hats!

I thought I would share some of the hats that I’ve made since I started crocheting last year. I have searched high and low for the patterns but sadly I cannot remember where I found them 😦 Maybe somebody recognizes these and can help me match them up to their patterns? Ok, I know that’s too much to hope for but it’s worth a shot! πŸ™‚

Understanding crochet patterns

Ch, yo, sc, dc, hdc, dctog, sl st, fpdc, bpdc…WHAT IS ALL THIS GIBBERISH?!

Why, it’s just crochet pattern abbreviations! Learning how to crochet is one thing, but learning how to read the patterns takes some patience. I found that it was almost like learning a new language, but I picked it up fast and now I am a pattern master! You too, can become a master!

Beginners usually stick to the basics so I will try and cover the beginning abbreviations only.

ch – CHAIN

This is referring to either a starting chain or any chains between stitches. All projects start with the basic chain stitch.

The act of moving the yarn over the hook to start a stitch.

The simple start to any beginners’ projects

In the beginning, you will be using these basic abbreviations to make your first project. If you have yarn, hooks and a tapestry needle and you are ready to start on your first project, you can make a practice swatch by following this tutorial.

Good luck and happy hooking!

Baby Booties!

I love making baby sized items because they can be worked on in a day and the end results are just so adorable!

I made these pink and white baby booties for a friend, they were my first attempt and I must say that they turned out almost perfect! I really love how the yarn changed color at the right places. (I used a variegated cotton yarn) Too bad they were a little on the small side so she never got to wear them, but they ended up being a rear view mirror decoration in her daddy’s car. πŸ™‚

Charleston Cloche Pattern

Here is a fun pattern to try out. I have crocheted this a few times in different colors, so the pattern has been tested and it is correct. Below is my version of this hat, toddler sized.

My First Granny Square Project!

I started my very first granny square project and I must say that I am quite pleased with my results so far. I am piecing together my fourth row of the blanket.

I am now working on granny square #39! So, only 81 more squares to go and I will be done πŸ™‚ whew, this seems never ending!

Here is where I got the pattern. Smoothfox crochet source
